In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track in just the space of six months. Drake and Bad Bunny were part of a team for the track MIA MIA (2018), while Madonna joined forces with Maluma to record Medellin, 2019 A few performers of reggaeton expressed their displeasure at the rise of mainstream music in 2020. But a new group, Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the growth and evolution of reggaeton. He often incorporated elements from electronic dance music as well as other genres.
